Apart from turning my cabin roof into a surface suitable for toddlers, I managed to get some headliner planks up today.
I started by screwing 1/2” x 1.5” furring strips in to the raw fibreglass and cutting/fitting the trim pieces with planking rebates around the companionway and mast bulkhead .
The deck is cored with plywood and has a couple of pretty thick fibreglass skins on either side, so it takes a fastener well. these strips create a spot to fasten headliner planks to and creates a rebate for the foam insulation.
Once the insulation was done, its just a case of starting plank by plank from the centre out. The last board you cut becomes the start of the next row etc. etc. this means there’s hardly any waste.
