October 4th
It was a short day today, arriving at the boat just before lunch. I started by looking at how the water pump and fridge condensing unit wanted to sit. I built a plywood shelf for the water pump and made use of the supplied bulkhead mounting bracket for the condenser. This should give it good ventilation. A tip for anyone installing an Isotherm evaporator. Hot glue, or otherwise stick the plastic spacers in place before screwing it in.
Only time will tell, but I think this fridge should operate fairly efficiently. The condenser is located low and the evaporator as high as possible to promote the natural refrigeration cycle, and the box is encased in 1.5” of insulation. No voltage drop was noted on the electrical side so I think we’re in good shape. 2” is a normal starting point for insulation thickness, so it’s possibly a little shy, but far better than some!
